Choosing a daylighting Company:

Providing the proper design, product and installation techniques should never be left to beginners or product brokers. Trust your facilities to the experts. Whether you are the building owner or the designer, ask these questions before deciding on a daylighting company for your project:
• Can you buy factory direct if you choose?
• Are the products supplied industrial grade or cheaper commodity quality?
• Can they supply 100% of the product required for your project?
• Can they provide you with site surveys and energy audits?
• What is their project history for new construction and retrofit projects?
• Can they provide architectural references?
• Are they licensed, bonded, and insured?
• How current are their project lists or photos?
• Are components designed as integrated units or are “off the shelf” items pieced together?
• Does Vendor manufacture the product supplied or buy from various suppliers?
• Do they design their products? Do they have product patents?
• What is their business history?
• Can they customize products/sizes to fit your building?
• Can they supply and/or install lighting controls customized for your facility?
• Can they supply lighting and/or hybrid lighting systems?
• How long have they been in business as a daylighting Co.?
• What is their project history? Have they completed buildings like yours?
• Can they provide references from clients with buildings like yours?
• Do they have references for repeat business?
• Have they ever failed to complete a project?
• How much square footage of space have they completed as a company?
• Can they do their own installations? What is their installation history?
• Do they utilize certified/trained contractors for installations if using outside contractors?
• What is their knowledge of roofing technologies?
• Do they provide project management for all projects?
• Are they a “turn key” company, what services can they provide?
• Can they supply architectural specifications and submittals?
• Are they DOE and Energy Star certified?
• Have they won energy or lighting design awards?
• Have they been awarded competitive bids in past projects?
